Tip: Customize Object Creation Forms

✉️ Spotter – Your Weekly HubSpot Helper
This week, we’re clearing out the clutter, avoiding a common mistake, and giving you one quick thing to try in your portal. Let’s dive in.
📣Announcement: ChatGPT x Hubspot Integration
This week I am adding this special update about ChatGPT’s official Hubspot integration. If you haven’t heard already, ALL paid ChatGPT users can connect their Hubspot account to ChatGPT.
Look out for some tips related to this new feature in upcoming issues.
✅ Tip
Quick fix for a common HubSpot headache.
Customize Object Creation Forms
If you or your team are creating contacts or deals manually, there is a great way to make sure all the information is coming in standard.
If you customize the object creation form, you can make mandatory properties, and add conditional fields to ensure that every unique thing about your process is built into the form.

⚠️ Trap
Mistake to avoid before it causes chaos.
Using Funnel Reports? Watch Out for Date Properties.
The funnel reports take an object, and show the progress through various stages (contacts through lifecycles, deals through a pipeline, etc.) The issue I have found is that the date property defaults to showing objects that were created in the given timeframe.
Sometimes you want to also restrict the close date, but that requires customizing the step, not the date property of the report.

You can also work around this setting by making a list based on create date/close date etc. then using that list in your funnel report’s filters, but…

🔄 Try
Something small to test or improve this week.
Build Source-influenced Lists for More Detailed Reporting
If you are building paid media, SEO, or other marketing channel reports based on original source, you’re likely missing a lot of the nuance. You can and should use attribution models, but source-influenced lists are another great way to get an idea of how channels are interacting with each other.
Use the “Latest Traffic Source” property, and in the list builder choose the “has ever been” selector. Now you can see anyone who has ever had a touchpoint that involved the source (or sources) in question.
