Tip: Use The Lead Object to Track Repeat Journeys

✉️ Spotter – Your Weekly HubSpot Helper
📢 Announcement: Rename Hubspot Default Objects
This is big if you have been using the extra objects I spoke about in this post. Now, you can rename any default HubSpot object.
Want to rename “Companies” to “Organizations” or “Accounts”? Go for it.
Want to rename “Contacts” to “People”? Knock yourself out.
More importantly, you can customize the “services” and “Listings” objects and then actually name them something relevant to your use case.

✅ Tip
Quick fix for a common HubSpot headache.
Use the Leads Object to Track Repeat Journeys
The biggest advantage of HubSpot’s Leads object is that it lets you track each buying journey separately without overwriting contact history or fudging lifecycle stages.
If a contact goes cold and re-engages months later, you can spin up a new Lead without losing context.
This is especially useful for companies with long sales cycles, multiple product lines, or high rates of repeat interest. It also means better reporting: each journey is its own data point.

⚠️ Trap
Mistake to avoid before it causes chaos.
Skipping Disqualification Reason Fields
When reps mark a Lead as disqualified without a reason, it kills your ability to optimize follow-up or routing. You need to know why someone was marked out of play.
Was it timing, budget, or bad fit?
Adding a required “Disqualification Reason” field ensures you capture that insight and can build smarter re-engagement workflows. Otherwise, you’re flying blind.
Add a required field in the pipeline settings, as a conditional stage property.

🔄 Try
Something small to test or improve this week.
Automate Lead Creation When MQL Criteria Are Met
Set up a workflow to create a Lead record automatically whenever someone hits your MQL threshold—whether it's form fills, lead score, or custom engagement triggers. This reduces manual handoffs and ensures no hot prospect slips through the cracks.
Make sure the workflow also sets the right Lead stage and owner to keep it actionable. You’ll be surprised how much smoother MQL-to-SQL transitions become.
